R+D Project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), Germany. The Project ‘MPLS 20 – Maritime Pipe Loading Systems 20'‘ is carried out in co-operation with Nexans Deutschland GmbH, Brugg Rohrsysteme GmbH, IMPaC Offshore Engineering and the Division of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of the Technical University Berlin.

Project duration: 10/2007-09/2010.

Goal of the project is the development of an innovative concept for an offshore LNG transfer terminal system, based on vacuum insulated, flexible cryogenic pipes with inner diameter of 16-inch up to 20-inch.

Development of a dedicated pipe handling system, including innovative technologies for safe approach and coupling of both the LNG carrier to the LNG production barge as well as the cargo transfer lines between both vessels.
