Project Characteristics

For repair works on underwater pipelines at one of the world’s largest gas-to-liquids plants in South Africa’s Mossel Bay, IMPaC has applied its experience and technical expertise for offshore pipelines.

The pipeline bundle consist of 3 product lines (8", 12", 14") protected by a 38" casing pipe running from PetroSA’s GTL plant to an offshore SPM for export of petroleum products. All pipes were damaged by a ship’s anchor in a water depth of approx. 20 m.
As main contractor IMPaC provided design, fabrication and installation of underwater wet welding repair for all pipelines.

Underwater wet welding was carried out by diving subcontractor Nordsee Taucher GmbH.
