Project Characteristics

IMPaC has prepared the Front End Engineering Design for a Davit system for Cantilever Barge Rigs (CBR) to launch Ice Breaking Emergency Evacuation Crafts (IBEEC). The operating areas for the CBRs are Kashagan East and Kashagan West in the North Caspian Sea.

The Davit system is designed to safely launch the 200 t IBEEC in an emergency situation as well as for recovery of the vessel. The Davit system also allows a safe emergency training in accordance with Class requirements.

The design of the Davit system is based on two main hoisting devices connected to two dedicated frames of the IBEEC. The hoisting device consists of two hydraulic cylinders with wire sheaves. The wire is connected to a fixed point at the ceiling, runs down through the hoisting cylinder and back up to a set of wire sheaves. The wire then runs down to the IBEEC where it is connected to an on-load quick release hook.
